The Young Real Estate Professionals extremely excited to have Mr. John Bucksbaum, former Chairman and CEO of General Growth Properties, Inc. (NYSE: GGP) to speak at our next speaker luncheon on Friday, February 25, 2011.
Come and hear about one of the most interesting events that has occured in our industry to date; the creation and rise of General Growth, its filing for bankruptcy protection, and one of the most successful emergences from bankruptcy in US history.
GGP has ownership interest in and management responsibility for approximately 200 regional shopping malls in over 40 states. The company also owned some of the nation's leading and most respected planned community developments which have recently been put into the newly created Howard Hughes Corporation (NYSE: HHC). The GGP portfolio totals approximately 200 million square feet of retail space and includes over 24,000 retail stores nationwide.
Mr. Bucksbaum received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado in 1978. Professional affiliations include the following:
